Many believe the new look is ‘very simple’, we think it is cool
The headline of the article is a song sung by Kishore Kumar in Hindi. It says, people will say something. People are habitual of saying something, but ignore it and be focused on your job. In case of new logo or the new typeface of Google, unveiled on September 1, many of the Google fans across world aren’t happy with it. They believe that their 5-year-old child can draw a better logo than this.
Well it is not about only design and colours. The new logo too has many things to say. Certainly it looks ‘very simple’ but it has a story. The world’s largest search engine giant, Google has changed its logo fifth time. Whenever company has changed its logo, every time it had a reason and a purpose. Even this time, the new logo with new fonts and size, the logo has a story.
As per the official blog of Google, company said that these days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices—sometimes all in a single day. “You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop!” said the blog.
By introducing new logo and calling it ‘identity family’, the blog said that Google magic is working for everyone, even on the tiniest screens. “As you’ll see, we’ve taken the Google logo and branding, which were originally built for a single desktop browser page, and updated them for a world of seamless computing across an endless number of devices and different kinds of inputs (such as tap, type and talk),” said the blog.
The new logo has a few changes. On its homepage, Google Doodle spells, ‘Google’ in a sans-serif typeface, similar to the one being used by Google’s newly created holding company, Alphabet. On it’s blog, Google said, “new elements like a colorful Google mic help you identify and interact with Google whether you’re talking, tapping or typing. Meanwhile, we’re bidding adieu to the little blue “g” icon and replacing it with a four-color “G” that matches the logo.”
Catering to the users from largest to tiniest screens across world, the new typeface of Google, is eyeing to make the experience more user friendly. “We think we’ve taken the best of Google (simple, uncluttered, colorful, friendly), and recast it not just for the Google of today, but for the Google of the future,” said the blog.
But, people on social media including facebook, twitter and other platforms aren’t so happy with the new look of Google. Most of them have called it ‘very simple’ logo. Some believe the previous logo was better. It seems, people aren’t convinced with the story of the purpose of changing the new logo.
Welcoming the change, we believe that new logo will certainly help users in searching, finding, seeking some answers and what not. Though, it is simple but fulfills the purpose.
